Extrashoes let you build your own boots. You crafted a pair of shoes, then added materials to give them powers: run faster, jump higher, glide, or climb walls. Its author, Kloonder, opened the thread with a promise: “Did you ever wanted to fly around like a bird, or jump higher than a rabbit. Now you can!”
Extrashoes is a Minecraft 1.7.10 mod that never left beta. Its last build is 2.0 Beta 0.3.2. In August 2015 Kloonder moved on to a follow-up, the Modular Armor Mod, which applied the same idea to a full armor set. That thread was last edited in March 2016. The Extrashoes thread now asks for a forum login, so the links on this page go to copies in the Internet Archive.
We first covered Extrashoes here in 2014. This page replaces that post. Nobody here has played it for this update; every fact comes from the author’s forum threads, read through the Internet Archive, and from Modrinth, checked on October 16, 2026.
What Extrashoes did
Kloonder posted Extrashoes on the Minecraft Forum on November 19, 2014, tagged 1.7.10 and Armor. The core idea was “Create your own pair of shoes!” The pitch: “Catch the Ender Dragon, be faster as an Ozelot. Jump higher as a bat can fly.”
- Shoe Crafting Table. Added in Beta 0.2, so that, in the author’s words, “every mod should be compatible with this”.
- Feather group. Gave your shoes gliding. A commenter wrote that it let them “glide and shoot arrows”.
- Slime. Added in Beta 0.3: put a slime on your shoe to climb walls.
- Shoe book. Also in Beta 0.3, an in-game book with everything you needed to play.
By 2016 the thread title read “Jet Shoes, Wall Climbing, Gliding and more!” The rest of the feature list and the crafting recipes were images in the post, and those images are not in the archived copies.
The mod stayed a beta. The thread warned that “item rendering isn’t fully implemented and also armor rendering isn’t actually there”, so the shoes did not show on your player.
Version history
| Build | Notes |
|---|---|
| 2.0 Beta 0.1 | First build |
| 2.0 Beta 0.2 | New Shoe Crafting Table |

The thread title kept count of downloads: over 1,000 in November 2014, over 3,000 by January 2015 and over 10,000 by February 2016.
The Modular Armor Mod
On August 2, 2015, Kloonder opened a new thread for the Modular Armor Mod and pointed the Extrashoes post to it. The new pitch was “Create your own armor!”, and the title listed “Custom Armor, Wall Climbing, Super Speed, Super Jump and more!” It had builds for Minecraft 1.7.10, up to 1.1.5, and for 1.8 and 1.8.9, up to 1.2.2. Kloonder last edited that thread on March 7, 2016.
We do not link a download for either mod. The threads sent downloads through an ad-link service, and copies on other sites are re-uploads we cannot vouch for.
A boots mod for current Minecraft
If you want what Extrashoes promised, speed and jump boots, look at Traveller’s Boots: Reloaded by DenisMasterHerobrine. It adds five tiers of boots for early-game travel. Each tier gives more speed, and from the second tier on, a higher step height:
| Boots | Speed | Jump Boost | Armor | Repair with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MK1 | II | None | 1 | Leather |
| MK2 | III | None | 2 | Gold ingots |
| MK3 | IV | None | 4 | Diamonds |
| MK4 | V | II | 6 | Emeralds |
| MK5 | VI | III | 8 | Netherite scraps |
Every value is configurable. Traveller’s Boots runs on Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge up to Minecraft 1.20.1, and it needs Architectury API. Its last update was on July 12, 2024. To install it, add it through a launcher; our Prism Launcher guide shows how.
