BOTA – The Night of the Deads was a Minecraft 1.7 mod built around one dark biome and a pile of weapons. You found the Forsaken Forest, mined four new ores and fought its mobs for Death Crystals, the material for its special weapons. Some of those weapons ran on mana: a hammer that called down lightning, a lance that threw mobs into the air.
BOTA is gone. Its last version, 0.2.5, came out on February 11, 2015, with a weapon bug fix. By April 2017 the author’s website showed an empty template, and the BOTA pages now return “Page Not Found”. No official download remains. Copies on other sites are re-uploads we cannot vouch for, so we do not link them. Everything on this page comes from copies of the official website in the Internet Archive.
We first covered the mod here in 2014, under the title “Godly Weapons Mod”. That name is ours. The mod’s own pages call it BOTA, short for Battle of the Alliance, and none of them use the words “Godly Weapons”. This page replaces that post. Nobody here has played BOTA; every fact comes from the archived official site, checked on October 16, 2026.
Who made BOTA
Modited Games described itself as “a small Group of two people”. Ben edited the website, and his teammate Alex “created/programmed the Battle of the Alliance mod”. The site went up on August 27, 2014. In September 2014 it listed BOTA at version 0.2.1 and “30%” complete. The team also made a second mod, the Anime Battle Mod, with weapons from anime series. Both mod pages asked people not to use the mods “in anything ( such as a mod pack )” without the team’s permission.
What BOTA added
Biomes and blocks
Two biomes, the Forsaken Forest and the Forsaken Plains. The forest brought Dark Dirt and Darker Poplar trees, whose wood makes Dark Wood Planks and the Dark Wood Stick that every new tool needs. An Alchemy Table, added in 0.2.2, brewed the mod’s potions “with less ingredients”.
Ores, tools and armor
Four new ores, Dark Iron, Silver, Galenit and Cobalt, plus a full Emerald tier. Each tier is a little stronger than the one before:
| Material | Sword damage | Armor values |
|---|---|---|
| Emerald | 8 | 3, 8, 6, 3 |
| Dark Iron | 9 | 3, 9, 6, 3 |
| Silver | 10 | 3, 8, 7, 3 |
| Galenit | 12 | 3, 9, 7, 4 |
| Cobalt | 14 | 4, 9, 8, 4 |
The armor values are for helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots. The Emerald tools are “Stronger then the diamond tools”, and Cobalt is the top of the chain.
Special weapons and mana
The mobs of the Forsaken Forest drop Death Crystals. Those make six unique weapons: the Stone Hammer, Poison Axe, Long Sword, Gravity Dagger, Scythe and Lance. The page lists more special weapons next to them, such as the Staff of Fire and the Enderstaff. Several cost mana to use, and mana potions in three sizes restore 10, 20 or 30 mana.
- Stone Hammer. Right-click a block, spend 10 mana, and lightning strikes.
- Staff of Fire. Shoots a fireball for 10 mana.
- Enderstaff. Teleports you for 8 mana.
- Lance. Right-click a mob, spend 5 mana, and it flies into the air.
- Poison Axe. Poisons what it hits, except normal skeletons and spiders.
- Scythe. 15 damage, which the page calls “very high”.
- Gravity Dagger. While you hold it, you jump higher and take no fall damage.
- Long Sword. Makes you much faster while you hold it.
- The Executer. 20 damage, the most in the mod. A right-click makes you invisible for a few seconds, for 10 mana.
Later versions added plain melee weapons too, among them a battle axe, a mace, a war hammer, a falchion and a throwing shuriken that poisons.

The site offered builds for Minecraft 1.7.2 and 1.7.10. Its install steps used Forge for 1.7.10, and the files sat behind an ad-link service on MediaFire.
